About

Roosa Records is a recording studio located on Tsartlip First Nation in Brentwood Bay B.C. owned and operated by producer Nick Gilchrist. The studio offers a soundproof and treated live room with just enough treatment to prevent unwanted reflections but not so much that the space is “dead’. The studio also contains a treated, isolated, vocal booth with a visual monitor.

Nick Gilchrist is a Canadian music producer, audio engineer, songwriter and musician based in Brentwood Bay, British Columbia. As founder and operator of Roosa Records, Nick has cultivated a creative haven for artists seeking a warm, collaborative, and professional recording experience. At Roosa Records, Nick offers full-service music production, from songwriting and arrangement, to recording and mixing. With a calm demeanor and supportive approach, Nick thrives in his endeavour to help musicians bring their sound to life.

Testimonials

My friendship with Nick goes back over 20 years. When he told me he was building a studio I had not released any music for almost a decade. I was looking for somewhere I felt comfortable and heard. I have never felt completely at home in a studio except in my own home where I make demos but Roosa Records is an oasis hidden in a rural neighbourhood where it’s easy to let go and capture the moment. I have thus far had three releases recorded, mixed and produced by Nick and they’ve all exceeded my original expectations for what was possible with the song sonically and emotionally. I look forward to future work together but more than all that I just want to add that I think of Nick as a kindred spirit musically and spiritually and I owe much to him and his family for allowing me to be a part of their musical journey. You can’t record good music without a sympathetic and creative producer who listens to your ideas and then comes up with ways to make your ideas shine even brighter and that is the experience I have had each time working with Nick and company at Roosa Records. When the song comes first, everything else just works itself out.

I have been working with Nick in his studio since 2018. I have had the honour and opportunity to work/collaborate and learn from Nick on many projects since. In his studio, Nick demonstrates persistence of skill, musical instrumentation, mixing/production, and musical creativity. Nick is very passionate about music and continues to grow more each time we work on a project together. He is also very open to collaboration and never excludes anyone’s ideas when it comes to recording in his studio. He is great at giving feedback and sharing his knowledge and ideas. Nick is also a very talented multiinstrumentalist. I really appreciate him as he has helped me with my entire musical journey. We have recorded multiple songs together and I look forward to working more with him in the future.
